Awe awe today was a great day work wise. Went to visit CPUT Cape Town campus and got my CentOS 6.3 HA Cluster up and running 15 minutes before home time… Was stuck with setting up communication between nodes for most of yesterday and today but finally got it going!! Winners never quit baby!!!

Think I will start a trend here by posting quotes I enjoy. Hopefully they can inspire somebody..

“Don’t give up at half time. Concentrate on winning the second half” – Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant

Good morning peeps, I would just like to bring to your attention the amazing website, they are a global web movement to bring people-powered politics to decision-making everywhere. All you need to do is register for free and you could do your small part in ensuring the injustices in our world are not being overlooked.

Just 2 minutes of your day can make the difference.

Day Four of the new job – October 4th 2012

By | October 4, 2012

Hey peeps, have a gap while I am waiting for my Nagios to install so thought I would update the blog for the day.. Yesterday got in touch with my inner child again while watching some cartoons (Family Guy, Futurama, American Dad). Now I am addicted again, need more…. Dudes here at CPUT are serious about downloads so once I am settled I’m gonna loaf from them like crazy.. Weather is sucky today but usually gets me motivated for a gym session. I better go today, Chest and stomach exercises me thinks.. Having a braai at work tomorrow!! How awesome is that? First week on the job and we having social functions… I could get used to this..

Day 2 in the books – Welcome to the Virtual World

My Future?

Hey peeps, day 2 in the books at CPUT… Getting to grips with the environment slowly but surely. All forms filled in and I am officially a staff member. Today was spent reading up on VMware vSphere 4 – ESX and vCenter Server, interesting stuff but got so many questions. Hope they send us on a course sometime in the future.. Met most of my colleagues today and they seem a real good bunch. Although this is not a major corporate environment like I have been exposed to before I definitely see room for me to grow and expand my skill set… Traffic in the afternoons is a killer so by the time I get to gym I am already tired.. Installed another VM on my Fedora box and it is quite simple, problem is what to do when the problems start arising.. Until tomorrow keep it cool peeps. P.S I remember alot more hot chicks being here on campus or is it because I am looking through 32 year old eyes this time and not 20 year old eyes?

First day at CPUT!!

By | October 1, 2012

As the first day at CPUT draws to a close I am filled with nervous energy… Looks like there will be a lot to learn here and I really hope I am up for the task. The environment is conducive to learning, that is for sure.. Got my access card already and busy setting up my workstation. Most everything is virtualized here so my skills will definitely be increasing on that side..

Looking forward to my second day on the job and hope I can start getting stuck in!!

Need a good session at gym to work off all this energy.. Check ya later peeps

New beginnings – 2012

By | September 28, 2012

Today marks my last day at Vodacom, it was a great 9 months in general. Met some good guys here and came to realise that no matter where you go there seems to be a common cast of individuals. You get the “high flyer”, always willing and eager, you get the “low flyer”, always doing everything besides work. You will find the overbearing boss, the meek and mild boss. The list goes on, the company might change and the faces but the personalities persist. Quite scary but refreshing.. Always bear in mind you choose who you want to be.. Me? I’m going for gold people… Time for my big boy pants to go on…
